Silver metal clay is an amazing material! Made from recycled silver, mixed with organic binders and moisture, it can be textured, shaped, cut and moulded like clay, but, when it's fired, it reverts to become 99.9% fine silver again. This means that you don't need any prior jewellery making or silversmithing skills to enjoy this media and make beautiful, fine silver jewellery pieces!
On this fun and relaxed workshop, you’ll be able to design and make a ring unique to you that you’ll love to wear! Jo will support you throughout the making process whilst you learn how to measure and size your ring correctly, allowing for clay shrinkage; how to prepare the mandrel to take your clay and how to make a seamless ring shank whilst incorporating your design ideas. You’ll be able to add surface decoration and other silver embellishments to your heart's content!
Once you’ve refined your ring, we will kiln fire it for maximum strength ready for you to polish and patina if you wish.
